Biography

 

Artitaya, formerly known as Piyarat Piyapongwiwat, is a multidisciplinary artist working with moving image and various mediums to explore social, economic, and environmental themes. Her earlier works used a documentary approach to capture diverse perspectives, challenging societal narratives and power structures. Artitaya holds a BFA from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Montpellier Agglomération, France, and has received awards such as the Japan Foundation Asia Center Fellowship (2017) and the 23rd Silpa Bhirasri Creativity Grant (2024). Her work has been showcased internationally, including at the 6th Asian Art Biennial in Taiwan and the 12th Gwangju Biennale in South Korea, and is part of collections like the Singapore Art Museum. She has recently expanded into programming and new media, using data and exploring machine learning to examine narrative and power dynamics in society, ecology and technology.
