mute conversations
2016. Video (12:04 minutes, 16:9, silent), Photographs, dimensions variables
The project "mute conversations" (2016) was executed and presented in Yokohama, Japan where I spent two months
as an artist at Koganecho Bazaar 2016 Artist-in-Residence Program.
I had done an interview-based fieldwork on Thai community in Wakabacho, Yokohama. Conversations were collected
from Thai people who migrated to Yokohama. Video recordings were then transcribed. Various stories and emotions,
along with other matters such as lives, hopes, dreams, were narrated through messages to each their own.
These stories were then presented in series of messages projected on walls, building facades, and other locations in
Yokohama’s urban areas where people pass by.
